People in the United States search 5,499 wrong spellings of 3,886 English words often enough for Bing to report them: about 1,143,140 searches a month in all. The most searched is solitare for solitaire (79,010 a month). The commonest kind of error is silent or unstressed letter left out. A search is counted whatever it is for: a misspelled name of a game, product or place is often typed to find that thing, not to check the spelling.

Method and limits
Candidates came from Wiktionary entries tagged "misspelling" and its obsolete or nonstandard forms, Wikipedia's Lists of common misspellings and the codespell dictionary and from single-letter changes of the 30,000 most frequent English words that occur in written English; each candidate and its right word were measured on Bing (United States) through DataForSEO. A wrong spelling is kept when it is searched at least 10 times a month, or listed by an observed source and written in the wordfreq corpus, and when it is the minority form. Brands, names and unfinished typing were removed by rule and by a review of the most searched candidates; the methodology page states the rules.
Limits: Bing is a minority of US search, and Google reports most wrong spellings merged with the right one, so these are Bing's figures, not all search. Volumes under 10 a month are not reported. The measurement is the average month from September 2025 to August 2026.
