Using PlainSpell means accepting these terms. They are short because the site is simple: it is a free reference, and you are welcome to use and share what it publishes under the licences below.
Who runs PlainSpell

What the site is
PlainSpell reports what its sources record (Wiktionary's entries, wordfreq's frequencies, Bing's and Google's search figures) and what its own measurements show. It is a reference for general information only, not advice on any particular text, and it does not rule on correct usage. It is not affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation, Microsoft, Google or DataForSEO.
Licences
Definitions, forms, pronunciations and other material taken from Wiktionary are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0, and so are PlainSpell's own lists, analyses and text (the search figures excepted, below): you may copy and adapt them with credit to PlainSpell and Wiktionary, under the same licence. The search figures are estimates from Microsoft Advertising and Google Ads, reported through DataForSEO; they are shown on the pages with credit, are not covered by the Creative Commons licence, and are not in the downloads (which give ranks instead). The recordings belong to their authors on Wikimedia Commons, under the licence shown on each file's page.
Automated access
Search engines and polite crawlers are welcome within the limits in robots.txt. Do not overload the site or get around its security. The research data is offered as CSV files so that you do not have to crawl it.
Advertising
The ads on PlainSpell come from Journey by Mediavine. A link to another site, such as a Wiktionary entry, is there so you can check a source; that site's content is its owner's.
No warranty
PlainSpell comes without a guarantee. We work to keep it accurate and correct errors when we find them, but to the fullest extent the law allows we give no warranty that it is complete or error-free. Nothing in these terms limits rights that the law where you live gives you.
