Sus frutos son pequeña bayas de color negro, venenosos. En medicina natural se emplea el cocimiento de las hojas y la corteza para lavar heridas, aliviar la picazón originada por el litre, en compresas contra las quemaduras, la tiña. En infusión es sudorífico y febrífugo.
