Su plumaje es poco vistoso; muestra la cabeza grisácea y el dorso gris a castaño. La garganta tiene un collar blanquecino. Las alas son pardogrisáceas, con motas negras o azul muy oscuro; abiertas al volar se distinguen dos bandas negras y una blanca. La cola muestra una orla blanca bien visible.
