- 1(Ugni molinae) Arbusto de la familia de las mirtáceas, natural de las regiones occidentales de América del Sur, que se cultiva por sus frutos para uso en gastronomía. Alcanza los 4 m de altura; es de hoja perenne, lanceolada, de color verde oscuro, con la copa densa y apretada. Florece a finales de primavera, dando flores hermafroditas de forma acampanada y color blanco, rosado o purpúreo. El fruto madura hacia mediados del verano; es una baya globosa, de color rojo intenso y entre 5 y 15 milímetros de diámetro. Se utiliza en repostería y la fabricación de mermeladas, jugos y chocolates, así como para la elaboración de licores.
