## Etymology
Earlier Slumba, Slumpa, from Middle English Slomba, from Scottish Gaelic Slumba, probably from Old Norse slaemr-vágr (“slim or small bay”). Alternatively, perhaps from Scottish Gaelic Slugag (“small pool”). Possibly influenced by bay.
