* As a Serbo-Croatian and Slovene surname, nickname for a Turkish refugee, from uskočiti (“to flee”) (compare Czech utéct). Also a nickname from the verb skok (“to jump”). This is also sometimes found as a Polish surname from the same verb skok.
* As a Jewish (Lithuania and Latvia) surname, from Skoki, the Polish and Russian name for Skakai, a small town in Kriukai in Lithuania.
