1. A channel between Baffin Island and Devon Island, the eastern end of the Parry Channel and thus the Northwest Passage, leading into Baffin Bay to the east (the body of water separating Baffin Island from Greenland), and Viscount Melville Sound to the west.

## Etymology
From Lancaster + sound.
Coined in 1616 by Arctic explorer Englishman William Baffin in honour of his patron Sir James Lancaster.
